About Skyhook

Skyhook is dedicated to inventing and reinventing location. And the innovation in our technology is rivaled only by the innovation of our culture. Our headquarters in Boston's exciting Innovation District are filled with Idea Paint, standing desks, bean bag chairs, crowd-controlled Sonos radio and a world class snack selection. If you love data and are fanatical about improving user experiences, we want to talk to you! If you are looking for a place where you are valued not just based on what you accomplish but how you accomplish it, then you should consider joining us!

The DevOps Team

Skyhook DevOps is a small, but very dynamic and versatile team that is responsible for supporting a continuously growing product catalog with shifting development and operational needs. Team members are key contributors to the set-up and ongoing maintenance of test, development, production and end user computing environments. DevOps Engineers help product teams quickly triage and resolve issues, roll out new features and keeps the lights (voice, network and literally, lights!) on for all Skyhook teams.

We look for the following in our DevOps and IT Engineers:

Excellent communication skills. You can tweet, text, talk and otherwise get and share info with technical and non-technical people alike.

Proactive and driven - you use your experience and make suggestions on best practices for end user computing environment, scripting languages and even lunch plans. Familiar with agile development best practices and can work with minimal supervision.

Solid understanding of Authorization and Access best practices for systems and familiarity with LDAP or another centralized directory.

Experience with SaaS and IaaS administration - apps from google apps to salesforce and everything in-between. Familiarity with AWS and Linode or other hosted cloud.

Experience with the set-up and deployment of Mac and Linux configurations for new employees. Familiarity with Mac imaging solutions is a plus.

Exposure to enterprise monitoring tools such as Nagios/Splunk/Etc and desire to dive deeper into their configuration and tuning. You love actionable alerts, and weed out the static. You enjoy your weekends and only want an e-mail if there is a real problem.

Systematic problem solving approach, coupled with a strong sense of ownership and drive. Flexible, entrepreneurial, and curious.
