September is just around the corner and you know what that means — new fall shows will be premiering over the next two months on the major TV networks.

While there are a slew of new series set to air, not all of them will make it past their initial episodes or first seasons. Here are seven of the most promising new fall shows that you should add to your TV watchlist.

1. Heroes Reborn (NBC). If you were a fan of “Heroes” (2006-2010) and were sad when it went off the air after four short seasons, you’ll definitely want to add the 13-episode miniseries “Heroes Reborn” to your watchlist.

The show was created and written by Tim Kring, who was also the original creator of “Heroes,” and follows a bunch of new people with special abilities who are in hiding or on the run after being blamed for a terrorist attack and must fight back against those who are trying to control their powers.

The series will star returning “Heroes” actors Jack Coleman, Masi Oka, Greg Grunberg, Sendhil Ramamurthy, Jimmy Jean-Louis, and Noah Gray-Cabey, as well as Zachary Levi (“Chuck”) and Nazneen Contractor, Ryan Guzman, Robbie Kay, Francesca Eastwood, Gatlin Green, Rya Kihlstedt, Henry Zebrowski, and Eve Harlow.

“Heroes Reborn” premieres September 24 on NBC.

2. Blindspot (NBC). This mystery drama follows a woman who’s found naked in a duffel bag in Times Square, with her body covered in freshly inked tattoos that were done at once, and who has no memories of her past. She’s brought into the FBI who will use the tattoos on her body as a roadmap to uncover a crime conspiracy and reveal her identity.

The series stars Jaimie Alexander (“Thor”), as well as Sullivan Stapleton, Marianne Jean-Baptiste, Ashley Johnson, Rob Brown, Audrey Esparza, and Ukweli Roach. “Blindspot” premieres September 21 on NBC.

3. Blood and Oil (ABC). The basic premise of this drama is that a young couple move to “The Bakken” in North Dakota, hoping to cash in on the modern-day oil boom and get rich. Once they’re there, the couple go up against a merciless tycoon who coerces them into betting big and putting everything on the line.

“Blood and Oil” stars Don Johnson (“Miami Vice”) and Chace Crawford (“Gossip Girl”), as well as Rebecca Rittenhouse, Scott Michael Foster, India de Beaufort, Amber Valletta, Adan Canto, Delroy Lindo, and Miranda Rae Mayo. The series premiere is September 27 on ABC.

4. Grandfathered (Fox). This sitcom follows a longtime bachelor and restaurateur who suprisingly discovers he not only has an adult son and is a father, but as his son had a one-night stand with a woman who got pregnant, he’s also a grandfather.

“Grandfathered” stars John Stamos (“Full House”) and Josh Peck (“Drake & Josh”), as well as Paget Brewster, Ravi Patel, Kelly Jenrette, and Christina Milian. This new fall show will premiere on September 29 on Fox.

5. Quantico (ABC). This thriller follows a bunch of FBI recruits who are training at the FBI Academy in Quantico, Virginia, and who all have different reasons for joining the agency, which viewers will understand through flashbacks. The series will also show in a flash forward that one of the recruits, after graduating, will be a suspected terrorist in the biggest attack on New York City since 9/11.

“Quantico” stars Priyanka Chopra, Jake McLaughlin, Aunjanue Ellis, Yasmine Al Massri, Johanna Braddy, Tate Ellington, and Graham Rogers. The new fall show will premiere on September 27 on ABC.

6. Scream Queens (Fox). The premise of this horror-comedy is that after a 1995 sorority pledge goes wrong, someone is pursuing revenge as a college campus is unnerved when a series of murders occurs on the 20th anniversary of the crime. The new anthology series comes from Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk (the co-creators of “Glee” and “American Horror Story”) and Ian Brennan (co-creator of “Glee”).

The series features a veritable who’s who of celebrities as its all-star cast includes Jamie Lee Curtis, Emma Roberts, Lea Michele, Abigail Breslin, Keke Palmer, Nick Jonas, Ariana Grande, Skyler Samuels, Niecy Nash, Nasim Pedrad, Oliver Hudson, and Grace Phipps. “Scream Queens” premieres on September 22 on Fox.

7. Supergirl (CBS). Superman’s cousin Kara Zor-El escaped their home planet when it was being destroyed and has hid her powers since she came to Earth. At age 24, she’s decided it’s time to embrace her superpowers — much as her famous cousin has — and be a hero, rather than a lowly office worker.

Ther series stars Melissa Benoist (“Glee”), as well as Chyler Leigh, David Harewood, Mehcad Brooks, Calista Flockhart, and guest stars Helen Slater, Laura Benanti, Dean Cain, and Jeremy Jordan. The exciting new fall show will premiere October 26 on CBS.

These seven new fall shows are some of the most promising and anticipated series that will premiere starting in September — so make sure to add them to your TV watchlists as these are shows you won’t want to miss.
